Chauffeurs are not ‘ordinary’ drivers, with ‘ordinary’ abilities. To be a true chauffeur, true to tradition and skills of such an extraordinary driver, a person needs several skills and abilities. Imagine what these skills etc. can add to your journey, event or occasion…
Responsive – chauffeurs need to be responsive rather than reactionary in their driver approach. Driving with due care and diligence is one thing, driving with anticipation and defence all of the time is the key to a smooth and successful journey. For example, understanding and anticipating that the lights could change to ‘stop’ means that sharp braking is avoided; rather the vehicle, and its occupants are drawn to a standstill quietly, gently, smoothly.
But then the ability to react quickly, and in line with the emergency is also an essential skill of chauffeurs; ensuring the safety and comfort of their Glasgow North passengers is never far from the mind of any chauffeur.
Comprehension – for many customers, they prefer a smooth drive in which they can make an all-important phone call, complete a piece of work or simply reflect on their day or look ahead to the event they are attending. Other Glasgow North customers like to converse with their chauffeur and this is welcomed too. And chauffeurs need to show they have the ability to converse, yet concentrate on the road ahead.
Communicating with their passengers, whether that is talking or listening, should not adversely affect the quality of any chauffeurs’ driving.
Driving skill – being able to drive pro-actively, anticipating change is important. Driving defensively, aware that other road users may be in a hurry or not be as familiar with the territory as themselves is important too. But, it isn’t just about moving forward; there are tasks that require precision and skill: parking the vehicle, steering it into small, confide spaces without making contact with other vehicles or objects.
Chauffeurs must always drive their Glasgow North customers with reverence and care.
Being able to do all these things, master all the techniques is something that takes practice, natural ability and skill.
Everything went great and thank you so much for the kind gift and champers!
