It is not always a common thing to be chauffeured from one place to another. However, some people think that taxi and chauffeur are the same thing. In essence, they are two very different things.
It is an art, and it is a skill. Chauffeur driving someone to their wedding, to a business meeting, to the airport for a holiday of a lifetime is about the journey, as opposed to ‘just getting there are quickly as possible’.
There are times when the actual car journey is part of the day, task or activity. Think of a wedding day for example. Turning up at the church or venue, relaxed and elegant in a chauffeur driven vehicle is not something that happens by chance.
Take a chauffeur driven ride and you will see. There are no sharp corners or turns, no ‘putting the foot down to make the lights’, no sharp braking and so on. It is a smooth ride, at a slower pace –although this does mean below the speed limit as such – but it is all a lot smoother flowing. No jerkiness. No sharpness. Just smooth round edges as opposed to sharp, hard angles.
Chauffeurs have a certain adeptness about them too. Most are trained in the skill of chauffeuring as it is not something that everyone with a driving licence can do. They need to be dressed in an appropriate way and, according to tradition, this means a livery.
In other words, a uniform that consist of a dark or grey suit, a tie, driving gloves and a cap. They will be present but unobtrusive. They tend, in the main, not to speak unless the passengers they are chauffeuring from one place to another wish to converse. They will have an umbrella for when the rain comes and passengers need to leave their vehicle on arriving at the destination.
They will not ask intrusive questions and, on alighting the vehicle themselves, will walk around the rear of the vehicle in respect of the horses that were, until the invention of the motor vehicle, the power of the carriages that transported people.
It is not a service that is costly nor overly expensive. It can be used for all occasions, from weddings to business meeting, to romantic dinners and more.
Everything went great and thank you so much for the kind gift and champers!
